My art & studio blog
As an artist I developed new art making skills. I have never used clay before so this was a new experience for me. I was introduced to new techniques such as pinch pot and slab. Based on my sketch i ended up using a form of slab. I rotated one big piece of clay around a bottle to keep it up. I used this to create my final product. As an artist I took risks. My piece was fairly large compared to the some of my other classmates It would often start to curve/ cave in on the sides. You can see the slight curve in the picture above. One way I tried to solve this problem it to put a bottle in it to keep it up. The bottle I used to create my time capsule with ended up being the support to keep it standing. After my piece dried enough it was able to stand on its own. As an artists I created original art. I was focusing most of my inspiration on my favorite book, "Splintered" by A. G. Howard. He book contains many fantasy themes that I wanted to show with my time capsule. With this piece I created an overgrown looking fairy house. I used the book to create original art.
